Location: Marsh Flatts Farm, South Derbyshire
Our project at Marsh Flatts Farm in South Derbyshire has been design certified Passivhaus Plus standard (as much energy is produced as is consumed). It is due to be completed in the autumn 2016.
The German term Passivhaus refers to a rigorous, voluntary standard for energy efficiency in a building, reducing its ecological footprint. It results in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling.
Passivhaus buildings achieve a 75% reduction in space heating requirements, compared to standard practice for UK new build. The Passivhaus standard therefore gives a robust method to help the industry achieve the 80% carbon reductions that are set as a legislative target for the UK Government.
The Passivhaus Institute has developed a series of certification processes to ensure the quality of any official Passivhaus buildings.
We are currently following these processes.
